Opening Night: Peacemaker

Good day CrewMembers and welcome to “Opening Night: The Peacemaker.” The purpose of the “Opening Night” feature is to give newcomers the foundations and basic information to be able to enjoy the program more fully. We work to avoid probable spoilers and speculation to allow everyone to enjoy “THOSE” moments together. We take our focus from the trailers and on-the-record news confirmed by the cast and crew.

Now I realize this is being written/published after the first season of "Peacemaker" finished airing. However, we haven't seen it yet and I believe have done a pretty good job of avoiding spoilers. For that reason, I thought it safe to write this one after the fact.

This is also going to be a pretty quick read for you. "Peacemaker" is an HBO Max spin-off of The Suicide Squad. (That's the one from 2021, NOT Suicide Squad from 2016.) At the moment it appears that all you need to have seen is The Suicide Squad before jumping in with John Cena's Peacemaker.

We do have a "Second Run" post about The Suicide Squad if you'd like to be more prepared for that film, but Peacemaker himself only previously appears in The Suicide Squad. Since The Suicide Squad is just a loosely connected sequel to Suicide Squad, you should be OK with just watching the one movie. Especially if you're more interested in Cena than in the overall DC Universe.

As with other episodic programs, we'll update a "Second Run" feature as we watch the show ourselves.
