Good day CrewMembers and welcome to “Opening Night: Obi-Wan Kenobi."

The purpose of the “Opening Night” feature is to give newcomers the foundations and basic information to be able to enjoy the program more fully. We work to avoid probable spoilers and speculation to allow everyone to enjoy “THOSE” moments together. We take our focus from the trailers and on-the-record news confirmed by the cast and crew.

We aren't going to debate which Star Wars Trilogy is best or if Disney should have kept the Expanded Universe intact when they took over the franchise. We're just here to get you caught up on the basics so you can jump into the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series too. Let's take a look.

Given the characters included in the trailer, it isn't hard to place the series in a general time frame. Luckily we don't even have to guess as the series has been confirmed to take place 10 years after Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. That immediately makes the Prequel Trilogy required and excludes the Original and Sequel Trilogies as well as the current Star Wars Story anthology movies.

Within the space between Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, there are some animated programs to help fill in the time gap and focus on The Clone Wars themselves. These animated features began before Disney took over the Star Wars franchise, and not all of them made the cut to current continuity. The only program currently in consideration is the 7 Seasons of the computer animated "The Clone Wars" series. 7 Seasons of a show is obviously a LOT to catch up on. Do we think that it's required viewing? No not really, but it was a very well received series and it does offer some deeper context to the relationship between characters and helps build their arcs. Therefore, there will most likely be characters from this show making the jump to live action in "Obi-Wan Kenobi." Try a few episodes and if you love it enough to put "Obi-Wan" on hold to blast through 133 episodes; you go for it!

When you are ready to get into "Obi-Wan," here's the Pre-Viewing Checklist we suggest:

"Obi-Wan Kenobi" 2022

Opening Night Pre-Viewing Checklist

STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE (1999)

STAR WARS EPISODE II: THE ATTACK OF THE CLONES (2002)

"THE CLONE WARS" (2008-2020)*

STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH (2015)

"OBI-WAN KENOBI" (2022-)

*recommended, not required

When the episodes of Obi-Wan release, we'll work on our "Second Run" feature and we'll try to call out specific "Clone Wars" episodes to help cut down on the number of episodes you may need to watch.

~Until then; enjoy the show!
